Prepare Yourselves... Harrow the Ninth: Act One is Free to Read!
I finished the first book, Gideon the Ninth (5/5 Stars) by Tamsyn Muir, back in October 2019, and I'm still not over it. You can find my review of it here.
You think you're sold once you hear 'lesbian necromancers in space,' but you are in for one hell of a ride.
Recently, its sequel, Harrow the Ninth (releases August 4th, 2020), came out with a free read of its Act One. I read through it, and all I can confidently say is this: I want to cry and what the actual f*ck is going on?
Why should you start reading this series (besides lesbian necromancers in space)? Well, it takes some time to get into the story because the world is just so dense and complex but completely fascinating at the same time. More than once I found myself having to reread sections because words or descriptions just went completely over my head. Just have patience with the beginning, because once you're through that, the rest of the story is a whirlwind with twists and turns and woo boy I can't even begin to explain what how I felt reading these books. Muir does not lack imagination, and her books are some of the most detailed, unique, hilarious, and heartbreaking books I have ever read.
Basically, all in all, what I'm trying to say is... please read Gideon the Ninth. Pre-order Harrow the Ninth. Cry and wait anxiously for Alecto the Ninth (the third book in the trilogy). You will not regret it.
